What is Excess Insurance?

An excess is a contribution you have to pay towards a claim made on your insurance policy. Excess insurance is designed to reimburse you for this excess (or contribution).

How Does Excess Insurance Work?

  1. Choose the car rental insurance policy suitable for your destination and trip period
  2. Buy your policy up to 364 days in advance right up to before you go to collect the car
  3. Politely decline any excess insurance offered to you at the car hire desk. You must ensure that your car hire agreement includes collision damage waiver cover unless you are purchasing a Worldwide Plus policy from us and are hiring a vehicle in North or South America

Please note, insurance4carhire policies purchased after the collection of your rental vehicle will not be valid.

Excess Insurance Claims

Need to make a claim? Please follow the instructions on our dedicated claims page within 31 days of any payment made in relation to your claim. We aim to pay your money into your account within 12-15 working days of receiving your claim.
